Day Center

 

When is the Day Center open?

The Day Center is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm. The program observes most Federal Holidays. The Day Center will not open during severe weather (snow storms, hurricanes) if the Federal government is closed.

What are the visiting hours?

Visiting hours are as follows:

  • Adult Psychiatric Unit: Tuesday, Thursday 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm; Weekends and Holidays 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
  • Adult Intensive Care Unit: Tuesday, Thursday 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm; Weekends and Holidays 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
  • Adult Detox Unit: No Visitors allowed
  • Adolescent Unit: Monday, Wednesday; Weekends and Holidays 1 pm to 2pm
  • The Center Unit: Monday, Wednesday; Weekends and Holidays 1 pm to 2pm

*Observed Holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr’s Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Will I receive individual therapy?

No, there is no individual therapy in the Day Center. It is expected that you will continue to see your out patient therapist on a weekly basis.

What about my medication?

In the Day Center clients are expected to continue to see their Psychiatrist for medication prescriptions. Clients are to bring medications they need throughout the day and take them as directed.

What is the average attendance and length of stay in the Day Center?

The average attendance is 3 to 5 times a week for anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. The attendance and length of stay are individually determined by working with the treatment team, your outpatient therapist and your insurance provider.

Do I need a referral from my therapist to come to The Center?

Information from your outpatient therapist is very helpful in organizing your admission to The Center, but a referral from your therapist is not required.

How much individual therapy will I receive?

Individual therapy is scheduled twice a week. The program is designed around the effectiveness and power of the group process. Most of the therapeutic work is done in group.

Should I bring my own medications?

Yes, please bring all prescribed medication in the pharmacy packaging. If you take an uncommon medication or vitamin regiment, please discuss this with us prior to admission.

What should I pack?

  1. The dress code on the unit for patients is casual.
    • Pack your favorite and most comfortable clothes.
    • There is a washer and dryer on the unit so you can do laundry when you need to.
    • Bring one (1) stuffed animal if you wish.
    • A bed pillow is a good idea.
    • Your own toiletries.

** Please keep luggage to one bag as storage space is very limited.

What is the average length of stay?

Ten (10) to twelve (12) days on average.

Physicians are on the medical staff of The Center at PIW but, with limited exceptions, are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of The Center at PIW. The facility shall not be liable for actions or treatments provided by physicians. Model representations of real patients are shown. Actual patients cannot be divulged due to HIPAA regulations.
